Gas explosion-proof certification applies to equipment intended for use in various non-mining flammable and explosive gas atmospheres.
Flammable and explosive gases are classified into Categories IIA, IIB and IIC based on their Maximum Experimental Safe Gap (MESG) or Minimum Igniting Current Ratio (MICR).
Propane is the representative gas for Category IIA, ethylene for Category IIB, and hydrogen and acetylene for Category IIC.
